There are cubists, impressionists, and surrealists. I am a Farsidist. Farsidism is a new art form inspired by Gary Larson and his Far Side cartoons.
Farsidism is practised by many, but they don’t know it. Possibly this is because I invented the term and this is its debut.
Many of the photographs you will see on this site are farsidistic. They are quirky scenes involving felted animals, and unusual portraits. There is wildlife drinking tea, cardboard Obama’s visit to my mother’s home in northern Ontario, humans caught in compromising positions….
There are photos of the pets and wildlife I have known and cared for. These are not farsidistic. They are stories. Magical experiences with the nature that surrounds me and that I am part of are pictured here.
My influences are: Writer Alice Munro, broadcaster and humourist Garrison Keillor, 1940’s radio comedian Jack Benny, and, of course, all hail Gary Larson. I return to the work of these mentors when I'm in need of inspiration and teaching.
It’s show and tell time.
